Introductory short notes
During the period between 1967 and 1968, Sergio Calligaris achieved a long tour through Europe, with acclaimed débuts at the most prestigious halls in Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Paris, London, Madrid and other cities. It was in that period that he made a great deal of recordings at the Studios of the Vatican Broadcasting Corporation, among which we chose the selections here presented of works by Chopin, Rachmaninov and Calligaris himself.
The "live" digital recordings, instead, are part of a concert at the Via della Conciliazione auditorium, in Rome, devoted to Sergio Calligaris in his double role as composer and pianist, which was acclaimed with the warmest approval by both audience and the most influential critics. His "Three Madrigals" Op.13 are the soundtrack of an admired ballet created by Vittorio Biagi, represented with great success by the Second Channel of the Italian Broadcasting Corporation at the "Prix Italia" in 1985.
